Navigating Intimacy and Parenting with Confidence

As a certified couples and sex therapist, I promote my services through radio ads that normalize intimacy challenges in longterm relationships. These non-explicit messages highlight that such issues are common and treatable, encouraging couples to seek support without stigma.

What Research Shows

Studies confirm that intimacy issues affect many, with 43% of women and 31% of men reporting sexual difficulties. Sexual frequency often declines after initial years, but emotional intimacy sustains satisfaction. Professional support can transform relationships, and my practice offers tailored solutions for couples.

Addressing Listener Feedback

A listener recently expressed concern that my radio ads might expose children to inappropriate content, given their access to explicit material online. I share this concern and advocate for thoughtful dialogue. Children naturally explore their bodies and relationships. Preschoolers ask about anatomy, while school-aged kids (7-9) grow curious about gender roles. Experts emphasize this is a normal, non-sexualized phase, and suppressing it can lead to confusion or shame.

The Cost of Silence

Silence around sex can foster a culture of secrecy that enables sexual abuse. Research shows 65% of young adults wish their parents had discussed sex, relationships, and consent, as silence left them unprepared. Avoiding age-appropriate conversations about bodies and boundaries may prevent children from recognizing or reporting unsafe situations. Honest dialogue empowers kids to protect themselves, breaking cycles of shame that predators exploit.

Benefits of Openness

In today’s digital age, children encounter explicit content beyond benign radio mentions. Open, age-appropriate talks at home reduce risks, with research showing teens with honest discussions delay sexual activity, have fewer partners, and practice safer behaviors. Comprehensive sex education, including parent-child talks, lowers rates of unintended pregnancies and STIs, while secrecy can foster guilt and hinder development. When children ask questions, connect with them, answer in nonshaming ways, and share your values while encouraging their curiosity.

Support for Parents and Couples

My practice helps parents craft healthy, meaningful conversations, creating safe spaces for kids to ask questions. By viewing sexuality as a natural part of growth, like emotions or health, parents can foster positive attitudes. For couples facing intimacy challenges, I offer tools to reignite connection. If you’re a parent feeling uneasy about these talks or a couple seeking connection, I’m here to support you.
